We have reached La Ceiba, third largest city in Honduras, and are once again enjoying the joys of city life- traffic, noise and fast food. We arrived on Tuesday and lunchtime and conveniently found that the bus stop was just a couple of blocks from the "MegaMall"... so were able to eat in air-conditioning. Heaven after a week of 30 celsius plus temperatures! However we are not here for the a/c or food, but to do research. So refreshed and fed we made our way to the home of our contact person here. We spent a pleasant and very interesting afternoon with him, before finding our way to our hotel. We are staying at the Hotel Emperador- another small boxy room but it's across the road from the mall and has a nice cold swimming pool on the roof! We will be working here with a medical team from the USA, who arrive tonight. Yesterday we made contact with the church they will be working with, and went for a walk around the community where they'll be working for the first two days- basically a suburb of La Ceiba. We are taking today to relax as we anticipate being very busy for the next week or so.
I have finally been able to upload some photos from Trujillo- scroll down to check then out.
